Xiaomi YU7 SUV Launched at ¥253,500: 835 km Range, 681 hp Power & Ambilight Smart Sunroof

Xiaomi has officially launched its first electrified SUV, YU7 in China, which is a perfect combination of electromagnetic sunroof, modern design and comfort. This SUV is part of Xiaomi’s HyperOS ecosystem.

Xiaomi has shown its prowess in the EV sector by launching the YU7 SUV which is a combination of excellent performance, comfort and futuristic technology. First of all let’s talk about its smart electrochromic sunroof that comes with ambilight technology. This sunroof adjusts its tint according to the environmental light. When the sun is very strong or the external glare is too much, it blocks 99.85% of the light in its darkest mode which not only keeps the cabin cool from inside but also drastically reduces glare and heat. This technology is very useful especially for the Indian climate.

Talking about performance, there are three variants of the YU7 SUV available – Standard RWD, Pro AWD, and Max AWD. The Standard RWD model comes with a 235kW (almost 320hp) motor and does 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, with a top speed of 240 km/h. The Pro AWD variant is even more powerful – with a 365kW (496hp) motor, it does 0–100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. But what makes the dream EV for performance enthusiasts is the YU7 Max, which gets dual 508kW (681hp) motors. The SUV can do 0-100 km/h in just 3.23 seconds and has a top speed of 253 km/h – which can rival any sports car.

The battery of the YU7 SUV is a 96.3kWh LFP in the Standard and Pro models, which offers a maximum range of up to 835 km. The Max variant gets the slightly more powerful 101.7kWh NMC battery, which offers around 760 km range. All models come with 800V silicon carbide (SiC) charging architecture, wherein you can do a 10 to 80% charge in just 12 minutes, and with just 15 minutes of charge, you can get a range of around 620 km – a game-changer for real-world travel.

The design of the YU7 SUV is quite attractive. The dimensions are 4999 × 1996 × 1600 mm, and a 3-meter wheelbase provides a spacious cabin. The front gets a 3.11 m² clamshell aluminium hood – the largest mass-production car hood till date. The car’s “waterdrop-style” headlights, auto-extend flush handles and active aero vents add to the modern look.

Xiaomi has not made any compromises on the safety front either. The chassis of the YU7 SUV Max is made of ultra-high-strength steel. And this SUV has passed strict crash tests like C-NCAP. It has an advanced ADAS system that includes roof-mounted LiDAR, 4D mmWave radar, 11 cameras and Nvidia DRIVE AGX Thor platform, which offers 700 TOPS computing power.

The interior also gives this YU7 SUV a luxury feel. There is a 16.1-inch infotainment screen with a 1.1 meter wide HyperVision HUD, which is powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. This system boots up in just 1.35 seconds and can receive OTA updates in 15 minutes. The cabin has dual-zone AC, Alcantara steering, customizable ambient lighting, massage seats and massive storage space.
