Wireless EV Charging- You must have heard about wireless phone charging, watch charging, but have you ever heard about wireless EV charging? In this, the car is charged without wire. Wireless charging is becoming a trend in the automobile industry in 2025. In this blog, we will tell you how this technology works, what are its benefits, and will it work in India?
What is Wireless EV Charging?
Wireless EV Charging is a technique in which you do not need to plug cables in the board. In this, just park your car at a specific parking spot, and charging starts automatically.
How does it Work?
It works on inductive charging. In this, one charging pad is in the ground and the other receiver is at the bottom of the vehicle. When both these charging pads come in contact with each other, a magnetic field is generated in them and power is transferred. In this way the electric vehicle gets charged.

Benefits of Wireless EV Charging:
Feature | Benefit |
---|---|
🔌 No Plug-In | No need for cabling |
🧼 Weather Resistant | Rain, heat or cold – No open wire issues |
🕒 Time Saving | Just park & charge |
📶 Smart Integration | IoT aur automation se link |
🛡️ Safety | No risk of electric shocks |
⚙️ Less Wear & Tear | Usage of mechanical parts is less |
Global Developments of Wireless Charger in 2025
- Dynamic wireless charging is being tested on highways in Germany
- USA (WiTricity) has launched 11 kW wireless charger
- Wireless charging is available for public buses in South Korea
- Brands like Tesla, BMW, Hyundai are already working on wireless-ready EVs
